The Builders — Event Spotlight: Blocktech Women Conference

Introduce yourself to the reader:

My name is Ojuederie Doris, a Nigerian. I am an ardent blockchain lover and preacher. I have been in the blockchain space for over 6 years. I am a blockchain certified expert, a serial entrepreneur with unique expertise on business development and strategic marketing.

I am the CEO and the Founder of Blockchain African Ladies, a non-governmental educational forum that is centered around educating African women about the low hanging fruits of the blockchain technology.

I have been at the forefront of educating women about the blockchain in Africa and have organized several events on blockchain and investment with hundreds of people in attendance.

I am doing events because that is the fastest way I can get more women together to learn about the blockchain technology. That is also the fastest avenue I can get many women trained in various key aspects of the technology. So my main purpose is reaching out to more women through conferences, webinars, and training.

I got into cryptocurrency business because of the love I have for the technology behind it, and also because I know it’s the future of money. Also as an entrepreneur, I could trade over several digital assets and make money at my comfort. Knowing that it’s the latest evolution of money, I want to be an early adaptor of this amazing technology. I missed out on the bitcoin opportunity when bitcoin was launched 10 years back. If I had got some bitcoin which was about a few cents and hold them over the years the way we hold landed properties, it would have been a great fortune.

What is the purpose of your conference/event?

The purpose of the BlockTech Women Conference is to get more women in Africa to participate and understand the emerging blockchain technology and to show them how blockchain can help them attain financial inclusion.

I aim to get many trained in various aspects of the blockchain and above all to close the gender gap between men and women in the crypto or blockchain space. As a result, more women will be seen in conferences, more can be founders of blockchain startups and be developers, miners, etc. More importantly, I hope to get us closer to a faster adoption in Africa.

Who are you trying to attract to the conference?

The conference which is open for all with the focus on women, hence our major attraction is women. It will converge African women in co-operate, social and religious organizations including FinTech and blockchain industries.

Can you name a few of the featured speakers?

The conference features 80% of renowned female blockchain experts as speakers. Male speakers cover just 20%. This is deliberate as to aiding focus of the consciousness of African women towards the low hanging fruits of the blockchain technology.

Some of the featured speakers are:

Genevieve Leveille, Principal Founder and CEO of AgriLedger (JERSEY)

Lindsay Nuon, Founder & CEO of Women of Color in Blockchain, Inc (WCB)

Alakanani Itireleng, Founder of, Botswana

Heaven Bereket, Founder of, Sweden

Reggie Middleton, Founder, Disruptor-in-Chief & CEO of Veritaseum

and many others.

Can you tell us about the program?

The conference is a unique one and the first of its kind in Africa which is going to be more practical. We going to be training participants in four major aspects:

  1. Cryptocurrency trading
  2. Blockchain development
  3. Entrepreneurship: personal and business branding – how to use LinkedIn and Facebook marketing tools
  4. Google skills training

We will also have an interesting all-female panel discussion with the topic: Why Aren’t There More Women In Blockchain? Our Speakers will be speaking on several topics about blockchain, decentralized AI, cybersecurity, blockchain supply chain, decentralized ledger system, regulatory threats and opportunities, blockchain impact in businesses among several topics to be discussed.

What influencers and what media will be at the conference?

Held in Lagos, Nigeria, the conference will have top crypto and blockchain leading media in Nigeria cover the conference. We have had lots of organizations publish and talk widely about the event. We are having Cryptotvplus, eBlockBuzz, AMDP ETC among several others.

Are there any side events?

Yes. We are going to have a VIP BlockTech Collaborative Cocktail Night. It’s going to be an Amazing night of networking between different organizational heads, founders, investors, speakers, etc. The side event costs $50 but the main conference is absolutely free.

What do you expect of the coming conference?

We expect a lot of enthusiast women who hope to change everything around them with the power of technology.

What do you do after the conference?

After the conference, I will be having a lot of different training sessions for more ladies who want to get deeper into the knowledge in blockchain development and how to build businesses around it. I will also start preparing for the next BlockTech Women Conference in Cameroon.

What would you wish attendees do more at the conference?

I hope they will be focused, open to learn and absorb from all the training sessions. Eventually, I want them to apply what they learn from the conference.

Anything else you want to share with the reader?

I just want to say to everyone who is reading this, the future we desire will be shaped by the blockchain technology which has the ability to change the way we interact and do things. We are in the fourth industrial revolution. There is a need for you to take advantage of the massive change that is coming. The blockchain has come to distrust major aspect of our economy, put us in charge of our wealth and money, eliminate middlemen aka the banks, give us a faster and cheaper processing speed with minimal cost and most importantly this is completely decentralized.
