Block Live Asia — Experiential Blockchain Festival!

Introduce yourself to the reader:

I’m Anna, the Team Co-Lead of Block Live Asia 2019. Specifically, I bring on partners and sponsors who believe in the potential of blockchain and cryptocurrency. I first heard of crypto five years ago when a family member regretted not investing. Coming from a country where remittance and cross-border payments are a big deal, the benefits of decentralization were undeniable especially in reaching the unbanked.

What got me excited was seeing real-use cases in industries related to my daily life. However, most conferences are exclusive and technical. Now that I work in this space, I want to do it justice and show the authentic, accessible and applicable side of blockchain technology.

What is the purpose of your conference/event?

Block Live Asia is the world’s first part conference, part experiential blockchain festival happening next month on April 18 and 19 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that not only answers the toughest questions today but also bridges our daily lives with this promising technology. We’re clapping back at the increasingly profit-driven conference world by featuring only the real work in the space.

Who are you trying to attract to the conference?

We want the millennials of Singapore, mild enthusiasts and geeks alike, to explore the industry with us!

Can you name a few of the featured speakers?

Our line-up of 60 speakers include:

  • Roger Ver (CEO,
  • Felix Mago (CEO, DASH Thailand)
  • Jeremy Khoo (CEO, iFashion Group)
  • Garrett Jin (Co-founder, BitForex)
  • Kiana Shek (Co-founder, DigiFinex)
  • Yovie Liu (CEO, IDAX)
  • Paul W. Kittiwongsunthorn (Co-founder, TenX)
  • Shaun Djie (COO, DigiX and Founder, Ethereum Singapore Meetup)
  • Chia Hock Lai (Vice President, Singapore Fintech Association)
  • Jagdish Pandya (Chairman, BlockON Group)
  • Ankit Bhatia (CEO, Sapien Network)

Can you tell us about the program?

It will be a packed 2-day exploration:

The BLA 2019 Programme Team selected abstracts for presentation following research on past and existing blockchain conferences. #REALTALKS sessions will be presented in five tracks representing the major topics that are under heavy discussion within the community or are of major importance in furthering the progress of the industry :

  • Track A: The Blockchain Vision (Future progression in the arena)
  • Track B: Blockchain Brainfood (Technical topics on the technology)
  • Track C: The Heart of Blockchain (Uses of blockchain for social good)
  • Track D: Blockchain in Action (Life-changing use cases of the technology)

Facing the F/Ups

Presented by BlockON Group, F/UPS invites finch and blockchain entrepreneurs to share

personal stories of professional failures. The stories of the business that crashed and burned,

the partnership deal that went sour, the product that had to be recalled, and what eventually

succeeded; they tell all.

RAISE Pitching Competition

RAISE is a pitching competition where teams will each be given 5+5 minutes to pitch their

technology to a panel of investors. The most viable projects stand to win prize money as well as

incubation and mentorship chances with a Silicon Valley-based Incubator Founders Space.

Simbyosis Exhibition by Art of Blockchain

Revel in the visual stimulation of augmented reality art pieces which symbolises both the

global unity brought about by crypto and the dark side of crypto- greed egocentrism and fraud.

Take a peek at the famous CryptoMother, signed by Vitalik Buterin and estimated at $6 million,

interactive projections, and an exclusive performance by the leading artist of CryptoMother.

Crypto Experience Zone

Visitors get a personalised walkthrough and simulation of the entire crypto experience based

on their knowledge level. From creating a wallet, buying their first token to trading on an

exchange, the interactive zone brings blockchain amateurs on their very own crypto journey.

What influencers and what media will be at the conference?

We expect 8,000 attendees, 60 speakers and 50 exhibitors. We’ve partnered with 40 disruptors in the blockchain space such as DASH, ZCoin, DigiX and BlockON Group are exhibiting their work onsite and are excited to have insightful discussions with festival goers. We also have onboard 20 media partners like crypto news site Coin Telegraph, PR agency DIFY and creative agency DANAMIC to amplify the cause of Block Live Asia across their networks.

Are there any side events?

None at the moment, but do check out for the latest updates!

What do you expect of the coming conference?

We’ve tailored the activities to give our attendees an honest take on the blockchain space. It’s going to be an action-packed two days with fiery discussions onstage, impressive MVP showcases and 70 exhibitors disrupting various industries through blockchain-powered solutions.

What do you do after the conference?

The blockchain community in Singapore is thriving and active! We provide the platform for dialogue with the 2-day programme but ultimately hope that connections made at Block Live Asia pave the way for new and exciting partnerships in the space.

What would you wish attendees do more at the conference?

With the months of hard work poured into this endeavour, we truly hope that attendees make the most of these two days by sparking conversation with industry pioneers at Block Live Asia, asking important questions about where blockchain is going and keeping an open mind on the potential of this amazing technology.
